Marshall 9 months old. (Diamond X Malloy) a fabulous pet living in Northern Ontario.
Since 1988, Blackpool
kennels has been breeding, training and showing British Golden
Retrievers. ******We have bred and owned well over 20 Champions, one Am Ch, One Grand Champion, one SDHOF, Best In Show, Multiple Best In Specialty Shows, and trained many obedience, tracking, Agility Champion title dogs in Canada and the USA. We are a small kennel dedicated to the improvement and advancement
of the Scottish Breed "Golden Retrievers" in Canada. Since we first laid eyes
on this most ingratiating of breeds, we had to have one. Nothing compares
to the soft dark eyes of the true Golden. So we
set out to breed the best family dogs possible. We chose to breed a variety of colors from the palest of cream Golden Retrievers to rich Golden colour. To breed the best and stay small enough for all dogs to live with us not in kennels. The best way for us
to truly know their temperaments and suitability to live in your house. We also decided too choose our lines
carefully and breed from parents cleared for hip, elbows eyes, heart problems. Blackpool strives to produce dogs of exceptional quality that conform to the breed-standard. Healthy dogs that would live long healthy lives and hopefully pass these same traits to their progeny.
We continued to educate ourselves by attending seminars on temperament, structure and health issues. We have continued to educate ourselves by attending yearly seminars planned like: "Breed To Succeed" given by renown author Patricia Craige Trotter (US), and " The Iams Dog Breeder Symposium on: Breeding Better Dogs" in Missisauga with guest speaker: Dr. Carmen Battaglia (Evaluating structure), Dr. Robert Van Hutchison(Canine reproduction), Dr. Martin Coffman DVM (Health/Genetics) and Mr. Stefan Massimino (Nutrition expert). All this newly acquired knowledge will be apply to improve our wonderful Goldens.
Michele used to show the dogs but do to health issues running is very difficult and painful so over the years we have selected professional handlers such as Colin Brownlee, Jo Griffith, and now Sarah Drake. Nothing but the best for our girls and boys so we send them to shows with people we trust. These two girls have always put the dogs first, if it's too hot they pull the dogs. The safety of the dogs is more important than the ribbons. This is why I selected Sarah Drake and Sara Manzi to show all our dogs. Many of our other dogs are placed in homes that do sports with them such as Agility and Rally. They have Many Agility titles , others have Obedience and Rally titles in the US and Canada, CGC, Temperament Test and St John certifications. The dogs we are the most proud of, are the ones that dedicate their lives to pleasing their humans. These I hear from on our "Facebook group" every week.
